Hadith:

Ubade ibn Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Whoever testifies that there is no god but Allah, that He is One and has no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, and that Jesus is His servant and Messenger, the word that He cast into Mary and a spirit from Him, and that Paradise and Hell are true, Allah will admit him to Paradise no matter what deeds he did.'”

Translation:

In this hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasizes the importance of testifying to the Oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). These two testimonies are the two fundamental pillars of Islam, and a Muslim must accept them.

In another narration of this hadith, it is reported that whoever testifies to the Oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) will not enter Hell. This shows how important these two testimonies are for a person’s salvation.

Explanation:

The testimony of faith, also known as the shahada, is the first pillar of Islam. It is a declaration of faith in the Oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

The first part of the shahada, “There is no god but Allah,” is a declaration of the Oneness of Allah. It means that Allah is the only God, and that there is no other god worthy of worship.

The second part of the shahada, “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,” is a declaration of the prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). It means that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the last prophet sent by Allah to guide humanity.

These two testimonies are the foundation of a Muslim’s faith. They are the declaration of a Muslim’s belief in Allah and His Messenger, and they are the key to salvation.

The hadith cited above shows that whoever testifies to the Oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) will be admitted to Paradise, no matter what deeds he or she did. This is a great promise from Allah, and it is a reminder of the importance of these two testimonies.
